
Tennis to Close Regular Season at No. 4 Auburn and No. 17 Florida

COLUMBIA, Mo. - Mizzou tennis will play its final two matches of the regular season on the road. The Black and Gold face Southeastern Conference opponents No. 4 Auburn on Friday, April 10, at 5 p.m. CT before heading to Gainesville to play No. 17 Florida on Sunday, April 12, at noon CT.
On the season, the Tigers are 12-15 and 0-13 in SEC play. Recently, the team dropped a close 4-3 battle against No. 55 Arkansas and followed it up with a 4-1 win over SEMO.
Against Arkansas, sophomore Gian Octa earned a straight-set win over No. 33 Caroli Gomez Alonso, 6-4, 6-4. Octa is now ranked No. 76 in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) poll. Sophomore Korina Roso and senior Andrea Artimedi also picked up singles wins over the Razorbacks.
Historically, Mizzou is 0-12 against Auburn. The Tigers earned a victory over Florida last season, improving their overall record against the Gators to 1-11.
No. 4 Auburn is 27-3 and 11-2 in the conference with a recent 3-4 loss to Texas A&M and a 4-0 win over Texas. In the rankings, the opposing Tigers hold the No. 10 and No. 21 doubles positions.
Florida is ranked No. 17, 13-6 overall and 8-5 in the SEC, most recently dropping matches at Texas and Texas A&M, both with final scores of 0-4. Gators' doubles pairing Nikola Daubnerova and Xinyi Nong are ranked No. 22.
UP NEXT
The Tigers will play in the SEC Tournament in Norman, Oklahoma. The tournament begins on April 15, with the match opponent and time to be determined.
