
Track and Field Claims a Pair of Wins in the 800m at Big Red Classic

Brianna Lee and Joseph Bariola took home event titles for the Tigers.
LINCOLN, Neb. – Missouri track and field completed the first day of competition at the Big Red Classic, highlighted by victories in the men's and women's 800 meters on Friday at Bob Devaney Sports Complex.

The Tigers went one-two in the men's and women's 800m. In the women's race, Brianna Lee took the victory with a 2:13.04 and Morgan Yeomans claimed silver with a 2:13.49. On the men's side, Joseph Bariola topped the chart with a result of 1:55.91 in his 800m debut. River Hardman followed in second, recording a 1:56.02.
Senior Robert Hines took second in the men's 200m, crossing the finish line at 21.60.
Senior Sam Innes led the men's hammer throw group for MU, placing second with a mark of 68.95m (226-2). Garik Pozecki and Clayton Kamp recorded a pair of personal bests in the contest. Pozecki finished 10th with a 62.02m (203-6) and Kamp took 17th with a throw of 58.19m (190-11).
For the women's hammer throw, Petra Gombas claimed seventh with a personal record of 58.06m (190-6). Reagan Kimrey joined her in the top 10 with a result of 55.29m (181-4) to tally ninth.
In the women's javelin contest, Valentina Barrios represented the Tigers with a third place finish of 55.45m (181-11). Skylar Ciccolini followed in fourth, notching a mark of 51.91m (170-3).
Mizzou finished competing at the Bryan Clay Invitational in the 5000m, highlighted by Kobi Walker's fourth-place finish in 15:58.01 in the third heat. Suzy Lecoutre also posted a strong performance for the Tigers, placing 13th with a time of 16:07.92.
