
Men’s Golf Wraps Up Play at The Hootie at Bulls Bay

The Mizzou men's golf team wrapped up its third-straight tournament at South Carolina, finishing 11th at The Hootie at Bulls Bay on Tuesday.
Junior Veikka Viskari led the team for the fifth time in nine tournament this season, carding a three-day total of -2 (70-71-73). The junior tallied 11 birdies over 54 holes, including three in tough conditions on Tuesday. Overall, Viskari placed 24th of 84 golfers in the field.
"Our guys battled well today," said Mizzou head coach Glen Millican. "The course was great and north wind made it a good challenge. It is nice to see a strong effort today in the final round."
Following Viskari's lead, sophomore Trent Mierl and freshman Esteban Cruz Bonilla placed second on the team with a score of +3. For Cruz Bonilla, his three-day total of 219 was the best score of his young collegiate career, which included his first round under par on Sunday with a 71. Mierl (73-72-74) tallied nine birdies during the tournament with Cruz Bonilla (71-74-74) adding seven.
Reese Roberts was next for Mizzou at +4 (72-75-73) and was followed by Virgilio Paz (71-75-76) and Brock Snyder (69-73-80) at +6.
As a team, Mizzou placed 12th in the field with a score of +6 (284-292-294).
Mizzou is set to return to action in two weeks, hosting the annual Tiger Intercollegiate at The Club at Hawthorne. Schools are set to tee off on Monday, April 6.
