SCOUTING THE COMPETITION
The 16-team field includes four programs ranked inside the top 50 nationally – No. 33 Louisville, No. 37 UNLV, No. 47 Little Rock and No. 50 Florida Golf Coast, while the Tigers are also joined by host Coastal Carolina, Baylor, College of Charleston, Furman, Kansas State, Kent State, Liberty, Louisiana, Michigan, NC State, and North Florida.
LAST YEAR AT COASTAL
Trent Mierl led Mizzou at the General Hackler Invitational, recording his fourth top-20 finish of the season. Mierl finished 16th in a field of 90 golfers to post a score of three-under 213 (72-71-70).
As a team, the Tigers placed 12th in a field that included six ranked teams in the top 50.
PAZ LEADS TIGERS IN SPRING START
Senior Virgilio Paz has started the spring campaign on a strong note, leading Mizzou in each of its two tournaments at the John A. Burns Intercollegiate and Colleton River Collegiate. In his final round last weekend, he tied a season best score with a 69 in South Carolina.
Paz had averaged a 3.6 team finish during the fall season and 74.33 stroke average before his back-to-back top finishes in the spring with 72.00 stroke average. It all comes on the heels of a winter campaign that saw him finish as runner-up at the Latin America Amateur Championship.
It also marks the second time in his career that Paz has led the Tigers in consecutive events, doing so three-straight times during the 2024-25 season at Arkansas, North Carolina and Tulsa.
