
Tennis Goes 1-1 in Sunday Doubleheader

COLUMBIA, Mo. - Mizzou tennis split its doubleheader on Sunday, March 1, defeating Lindenwood (4-0) and falling to No. 4 Texas A&M (4-0).
Match One: Texas A&M
The first doubles match saw senior Andrea Artimedi and sophomore Gian Octa fall 6-0, then sophomore Zoe Lazar and freshman Lara Quaglia dropped their set six games to two. Sophomore Korina Rosa and freshman Alex Ackman left their match unfinished with a 4-3 lead over the 15th-ranked doubles pairing at No. 1.
Mizzou played a series of competitive singles matches as Roso and Lazar each dropped close first sets. Lazar fell 7-6 (7-3), 6-1 in a hard-fought match while Roso battled in a 6-4, 7-6 (7-3) defeat by No. 5 Lucciana Perez. Artimedi took her first set to 12 games in a 7-5, 6-1 loss, and Octa saw her match come to an end in the midst of the third set with the sophomore on the verge of pulling to within one at 5-4, and the first two sets went 6-3 with one in each player's favor.
Ackman and Quaglia each had just gotten into the opening points of their singles matches before the Aggies earned the clinching points.
Match Two: Lindenwood
The Black and Gold took control of the match early by clinching the doubles point. Artimedi and Octa earned a quick 6-0 win, followed by Ackman and Roso, who won 6-2. Lazar and Quaglia went unfinished on court 2, but were leading 4-2.
Mizzou carried the momentum into singles, beginning with Roso dominating her match 6-0, 6-0. Artimedi was close behind, winning 6-1, 6-1. Octa clinched the match with her 6-2, 6-1 win.
