Tennis Cruises Past Morgan State and Murray State

Mizzou tennis took both of its matches against Morgan State (4-0) and Murray State (6-1) on Feb. 20 at home.
Match One: Morgan State
The match began with the Tigers securing the doubles point. Senior Andrea Artimedi and sophomore Gian Octa had an impressive start as they recorded a 6-1 victory over their opponents. Not long after, freshman Alex Ackman and sophomore Korina Roso also secured a comfortable 6-2 victory to notch the doubles point for Missouri.
Three Tigers contributed to the scoring column during singles action, with three other matches left unfinished. Octa was first to finish for Missouri, taking care of her opponent in straight sets, 6-1, 6-0. Roso followed, winning her match 6-1, 6-3. Lazar sealed the match with a bounce-back 6-2 victory in the third set after posting scores of 6-4 and 0-6 in the first two sets.
Match Two: Murray State
Lazar and Quaglia opened the second match with a 6-2 doubles victory, while Artimedi and Octa broke their opponents to seal their 7-5 win and clinch the doubles point for the Tigers.
Mizzou controlled singles action, wrapping up a trio of 6-0 wins to open as Roso, Ackman and Artimedi all jumped ahead of their opponents. Artimedi closed out the 6-0, 6-0 victory to put the first singles tally on the board for Missouri. Ackman and Roso each followed as Roso went 6-2 and Ackman went 6-3 in the second to put the third and fourth team points on the board for the Tigers. Octa continued the singles success with a 6-1, 6-1 win to bring it to 5-0. Quaglia dropped her match in straight sets, 5-7, 1-6, while Lazar grabbed a 6-2, 6-3 victory to close out a 6-1 win for the Tigers.

Mizzou travels to Nashville to face Vanderbilt and Tennessee State on Sunday, Feb. 22, at 1:30 p.m. and 6 p.m. CT, respectively.
