COLUMBIA, Mo. - Four members of Mizzou cross country were named to the 2026 All-Southeastern Conference teams on Monday, the league announced, following the Tigers’ pair of fourth-place finishes at the SEC Cross Country Championships at the Gans Creek Cross Country Course on Friday.

Sophomore Monica Wanjiku earned All-SEC First Team honors, junior Kobi Walker was named to the Third Team, and freshman Jean Kipchumba collected both Second Team and All-Freshman Team recognition. Freshman Emmanuel Kiprop joined Kipchumba on the All-Freshman Team. The five selections are the program’s most in a single season since 2018.

Wanjiku placed seventh in the women’s 6K in a personal-best 19:05.2 to earn first-team honors for the second consecutive season. She is the third woman in program history to be named to the All-SEC First Team twice, joining Kaitlyn Fischer (2013-14) and two-time SEC champion Karissa Schweizer (2016-17). Her time is the fastest by a Tiger at an SEC Championship, bettering Schweizer’s 19:36.3 from 2017, topping her fastest 6K by a Missouri woman at Gans Creek.

Walker finished 17th in 19:27.2, 27 seconds under her previous personal best, for her first All-SEC honor. She and Wanjiku helped the No. 17 women’s team to 138 points and its highest SEC finish since a third-place showing in 2019.

Kipchumba led the men in eighth place in 22:32.2 in his conference championship debut. His time is the fastest 8K by a Tiger at an SEC Championship, surpassing Drew Rogers’ 22:54.1 from 2024, and the fastest by a Missouri man at Gans Creek, ranking No. 8 on the course’s all-time list. The finish ties for the fourth-best by a Mizzou man at the conference meet since the program joined the SEC in 2012.

Kiprop placed 39th in 23:40.1 as the men’s fourth scorer, lowering his previous 8K best (25:12.4) by more than a minute and a half. The men totaled 145 points to finish fourth, three points ahead of Tennessee, for their best SEC result since 2021.

The All-SEC First Team consists of the top seven finishers in each race, with places 8-14 making up the Second Team and places 15-21 the Third Team. The All-Freshman Team recognizes the top seven freshman finishers in each race.
