Soccer Battles LSU to 0-0 Draw in Season Finale

Wilkerson posts a four-save shutout, but the Tigers can’t convert a 12-4 shot advantage as the year comes to a close.

COLUMBIA, Mo. – Mizzou soccer’s 2026 season came to a close Sunday afternoon with a 0-0 draw against LSU at Audrey J. Walton Stadium, as the Black & Gold outshot the visitors 12-4 and earned nine corner kicks but were unable to find the back of the net.

Senior goalkeeper Riley Wilkerson (San Luis Obispo, Calif.) stopped all four LSU shots on goal for her third shutout of the season, but Missouri (5-9-3, 2-6-2 SEC) put just one of its 12 attempts on frame against LSU (4-9-5, 2-4-4 SEC), and the point left it just outside the Southeastern Conference Tournament field.

“We have a lot of young players contributing a lot right now, and I think they are going to continue to grow, and the players who are coming in will continue to impact that as well,” head coach Stefanie Golan said. “This team, their resilience, fight and heart — they didn’t stop. At any point they could have stopped, and they didn’t, and that speaks a great deal to the character of these women.”

The match stayed physical and tight through a scoreless first half. Junior McKenna Moran (Rowlett, Texas) twice slid in to break up LSU chances, Wilkerson turned away shots in the 17th and 42nd minutes, and Mizzou limited the visitors to two attempts before the break. Freshman Audrey Gilbert (Plano, Texas) nearly sent Mizzou into halftime ahead, heading a chance just over the crossbar in the final seconds of the frame.

Missouri took control after the break, generating seven shots and seven corner kicks in the second half, while Wilkerson made two more saves in the 48th and 53rd minutes to keep it level. Junior Emily Derucki (Wildwood, Mo.) fired three shots over the final 25 minutes and MU earned three corners in the last 10, but the breakthrough never came. Junior Mia Devrouax (Florissant, Mo.) got off Mizzou’s lone shot on goal in the 88th minute, and it was turned aside.

The closing minutes grew heated, with LSU’s bench drawing a yellow card in the 90th minute, before the final whistle brought Missouri’s season to an end.

“We keep getting closer and closer, and our seniors’ willingness to gut it out and stick through their entire time here means everything,” Golan said. “In a day and age where loyalty isn’t a thing, they’ve been very loyal to this program and to their teammates.”

Missouri finishes the year 5-9-3 overall and 2-6-2 in SEC play, going 2-1-1 over its final four matches.
