MADISON, Wisc. – Mizzou cross country saw its No. 19 women’s team take ninth at the Nuttycombe Invitational on Friday morning at the Thomas Zimmer Championship Course.
This marks the Tigers’ highest finish in the premier cross country event in their third time running the event, previously earning a 20th-place result in 2019 and 33rd in 2021. The Black & Gold finished as the second-highest Southeastern Conference placing team, trailing only second-place Florida and beating out Oklahoma, Tennessee and Georgia.
The women were led by Monica Wanjiku, taking 20th place, marking her sixth top-20 finish in her seven collegiate cross country races. She reached as high as sixth at the 4K mark before her 19:43.5 result. Wanjiku was followed by Kobi Walker, who took 35th in a time of 20:04.4.
The men finished in 31st and were paced by freshman tandem Jean Kipchumba and Elijah Limo, finishing in 23:49.8 for 86th and 23:54.8 for 96th, respectively. Kipchumba led the Black & Gold in his first collegiate race for Mizzou.

- The women finished with 331 points and were rounded out by Rahel Broemmel in 59th (20:25.0), Suzy Lecoutrein 64th (20:29.0) and Charlotte Cullen in 153rd (21:12.8).
- In addition to Kipchumba and Limo on the men’s side, the Tigers’ scorers were comprised of Tyler Freiner (148th, 24:12.1), Raymond Kipkoech (180th, 24:26.9) and Josh Allison (193rd, 24:38.8).

Mizzou begins its run in the postseason at the Southeastern Conference Championship, which will be held at the team’s home course, Gans Creek Cross Country Course, on Oct. 30. The event will be broadcast on SEC Network.
