Tennis Travels to 49er Invite in Charlotte

COLUMBIA, Mo. - Mizzou tennis travels to the 49er Invite, Oct. 1-4, in Charlotte, North Carolina. The event was originally scheduled to begin on Friday, Oct. 2, but was moved up a day due to incoming rain.

Missouri is sending four freshmen to the East Coast: Irina Anghel, Daria Budko, Danielle Chapman and Mariana Higuita Barraza. The Tigers compete against competition from host Charlotte, Maryland, Rutgers and Clemson.

Anghel held a World Tennis Rankings (WTR) of 530 in doubles and 1,101 in singles at the time of her signing. Budko entered college as the 68th ranked prospect in the nation and seventh from the state of Texas by Babolat Recruiting.

Chapman, arriving in Missouri from South Africa, earned her first WTA ranking (1,163) after making back-to-back quarterfinals of the 15k in South Africa and Botswana. Additionally, Higuita Barraza claimed WTA rankings of 850 in doubles and 1,132 in singles, and bested top-10 Blue-Chip recruit Kori Montoya, who is signed with the reigning National Champions, Texas A&M.
