
No. 7 Gymnastics Tops Iowa State in Season Opener, 196.850-191.325

Junior Hannah Horton captured event titles on all three events she competed in.
No. 7 Mizzou gymnastics topped Iowa State, 196.850-191.325, in its season opening meet on Sunday afternoon at Mizzou Arena in front of 2,342 spectators.
SHOWSTOPPERS
Hannah Horton (Brooklyn Park, Minn.) earned event titles on bars (9.925), floor (9.925) and vault (9.875) to open her junior season.
Addison Lawrence (Olathe, Kan.) notched the event title on beam with 9.950, her third time reaching or exceeding the score in her career.
Kimarra Echols (Henderson, Nev.) earned the all-around title in her collegiate debut, scoring 38.650, highlighted by a 9.900 on bars.
The Tigers saw three of their four leadoff positions score 9.900 and hit the threshold nine times.
"I'm really proud of a lot of things we were trying to accomplish and start with this year," head coach Shannon Welker said. "Definitely stronger start on vault this year. I think we got to some sticks sooner this year, our percentage was pretty good tonight. Overall, pretty solid start."
RECAP:
VAULT
-Horton and sophomore Railey Jackson (Park Forest, Ill.) claimed shares of the vault title after earning scores of 9.875.
-Echols posted a 9.850 in her collegiate debut.
-Elise Tisler (Fairfax Station, Va.) anchored the rotation and scored 9.800.
BARS
-Lawrence posted a 9.900 on bars from the leadoff spot, tying her career-best result.
-Lauren Macpherson (Gilbert, Ariz.) earned a score of 9.875 in her first routine as a Tiger after being sidelined in 2025 due to injury.
-Echols best score of the day came on bars, where she posted 9.900.
-Makayla Green (Mays Landing, N.J.) also made her Black & Gold debut, where she anchored the rotation with a 9.850.
-Mizzou's total of 49.450 on the apparatus tied the eighth best in program history.
BEAM
-Redshirt senior Amy Wier (St. Louis, Mo.) opened the rotation by scoring a 9.900, tying her career best.
-Macpherson followed with a 9.900 of her own, her 11th time reaching the mark.
-Jackson went fourth and posted a 9.850.
-Lawrence closed it out for the Tigers with her event-title winning score of 9.950.
FLOOR
-Tisler held the leadoff spot and scored 9.900, her third time earning a 9.900 or higher as a Tiger.
-In her first collegiate routine, sophomore Ayla Acevedo (Virginia Beach, Va.) followed Tisler and notched a 9.900.
-Mizzou totaled 49.450 in its final rotation to close the meet.
UP NEXT
The Tigers travel to Lincoln, Nebraska for their first road meet of the season on Saturday, Jan. 10 at 3 p.m. for the Ameritas Master's Classic against Wisconsin-La Crosse, Wisconsin-Stout and host Nebraska.
