No. 7 Gymnastics Posts Season-High 197.500 against No. 2 LSU

Mizzou’s score also marked its highest in the series’ history.
No. 7 Mizzou gymnastics posted its highest score of the season but ultimately fell to No. 2 LSU, 197.675–197.500, on Friday night at Mizzou Arena before a crowd of 5,164.
Missouri (4-3, 0-3 SEC) outscored LSU (3-1, 1-1 SEC) on balance beam, 49.400–49.325, and notched a season-best 49.475 on floor exercise.
SHOWSTOPPERS
Two Tigers earned event titles on the night. Railey Jackson (Park Forest, Ill.) claimed a share of the vault crown with a career-best 9.950, while Hannah Horton (Brooklyn Park, Minn.) took the uneven bars title with a 9.950.
"This was a huge confidence builder for us," head coach Shannon Welker said. "This team is moving in the right direction, and I'm excited to see how we continue progressing through the season."

VAULT
-Going second, Jackson's 9.950 shattered her previous career high of 9.875.
-Sophomore Kaia Tanskanen (Howell, Mich.) earned a 9.850, matching her collegiate best.
-Horton posted a 9.875, marking the fifth time she has reached the score this season.
-Missouri totaled 49.275 in its opening rotation.
BARS
-Horton matched her personal best with a 9.950, competing fifth in the lineup.
-Anchoring the event for the second time this season, Kimarra Echols (Henderson, Nev.) notched a 9.925, her fourth score of 9.900 or better in five meets on bars.
-Olivia Kelly (Bronx, N.Y.), Makayla Green (Mays Landing, N.J.) and Maiya Terry (Coeur d'Alene, Idaho) each posted a 9.825 in consecutive routines.
-Mizzou's second rotation resulted in a 49.350, the team's second-highest bars score of the season.
BEAM
-Lauren Macpherson (Gilbert, Ariz.) earned a season-best 9.950 in the second spot of the lineup.
-Addison Lawrence (Olathe, Kan.) matched the mark from the anchor position, reaching 9.950 for the fourth time this year.
-Leadoff Amy Wier (St. Louis, Mo.) added a 9.875, while Jackson contributed a 9.850, going fifth.
-Missouri totaled 49.400 in its third rotation, tying its season high on the apparatus.
FLOOR
-Tanskanen and Jackson each posted a 9.900, with Jackson earning her season-best result on the event.
-Kennedy Griffin (Strongsville, Ohio) and Horton closed the meet with matching 9.925s, both tying their season highs.
-Missouri closed the gap in the final rotation but fell to LSU by 0.175.
UP NEXT
Missouri will be back in Mizzou Arena to host No. 3 Florida on Friday, Feb. 6, at 8:00 p.m. CT. The meet will be nationally televised on ESPN2.
