CHICAGO - Sunday night's historic SEC/Big Ten Challenge volleyball match pitting Mizzou against No. 1 Nebraska at Wrigley Field was suspended early in the first set due to weather conditions that made the court unplayable. After several breaks in the action to towel off moisture on the court, the match was officially suspended with the Cornuskers leading 11-7 in the first set.

"Due to weather conditions affecting the court surface, Sunday's volleyball match between Nebraska and Missouri has been suspended," the Big Ten Conference said in a statment issued at 10:34 p.m. "Despite best efforts and in collaboration with all parties, rescheduling at Wrigley Field is not possible. A decision on match continuation at the point of suspension will be announced at a later date."

"Although the game was suspended due to weather, the safety of our student-athletes will always be our top priority," Mizzou head coach Dawn Sullivan said. "We are incredibly grateful for the Mizzou Nation and everyone who made the journey to Chicago to support us. The opportunity to compete at Wrigley Field, in such an iconic venue, is an experience our team will never forget. Thank you for making this night so special!"

Earlier in the night, Kentucky of the SEC defeated the Big Ten's Penn State in four sets in the first match of the doubleheader. Announced attendance for the Mizzou-Nebraska match was 43,067, the second-biggest crowd in Wrigley Field's history.

The Tigers (3-1) next play Wednesday at Louisville, a 6 p.m. match on ACC Network.
