With 26 minutes remaining, Emily Derucki (Wildwood, Mo.) took a left-footed shot from about 18-yards out, forcing the Tennessee keeper to make a diving stop for the Tigers' first scoring chance in the second frame.
Later in the half, Hailey Chambliss (Eureka, Mo.) forced a Lady Vols turnover in their own end and fired a shot on target for another MU scoring chance, also drawing the first corner for the Tigers.
