Senior Ffion Tynan of University of Missouri women's golf opened play in the NCAA Regional at Norman, Oklahoma, on Monday, finishing the first 36-holes in 51st place.
Following a historic season that saw eight top-15 finishes in just 10 tournaments, Tynan finished the season ranked inside the top-200 golfers in the country at 198. Her appearance in the NCAA tournament marks the first Tiger to receive an individual invite since Jessica Yuen in 2021.
In the opening round Tynan carded a 79 before improving on her first round score by six strokes to finish the day at 152 (79-73). The day was highlighted by two birdies on the back-nine of her second round, including a three-shot improvement on hole 17 the second time around.
Tynan finished the day in a tie for 51st at +8. To qualify for the final rounds of the NCAA Championship, Tynan needs to finish as the top qualifier outside the five advancing team.
Weather permitting, the final round of the Norman regional is set for Tuesday morning.
