COLUMBIA, Mo. – University of Missouri softball claimed its largest all-time victory over the nation's top team with a 9-1 run-rule win over No. 1 Texas A&M Friday afternoon at Mizzou Softball Stadium.
The victory is the third for Missouri against the top-ranked team in the national polls (since 1999). MU picked up its second No. 1 win this season after defeating top-ranked Oklahoma, 3-1, on March 22.
With the victory, MU improved to 23-26 in 2025 and 4-14 in SEC play. The run-rule victory is the sixth of the season (first in SEC play) for Mizzou and the second this week.
The Tigers excelled in the batter's box with four home runs in the contest. It is the second time this season they have accomplished the statistical feat (first time in SEC play) and the ninth occasion this season they have slugged three or more homers.
Senior catcher Julia Crenshaw opened up the Tigers' scoring with a solo home run to left field in the first inning, her career-best 12th of the season.
It also marked her fourth leadoff homer of the campaign and first leadoff homer since at Kentucky on March 9.
Senior Kara Daly wrapped up the inning with a three-run home run to left field to give the Tigers an early 4-0 lead. The round tripper was her 10th home run of the season, and her sixth game this season with at least three RBI (nine multi-RBI games in 2025).
The blast marked the 40th home run of her career and her third season with double-digit homers. She now ranks tied for ninth in Mizzou program history with Micaela Minner (40 home runs, 2005-09).
Daly went 2-for-3 Friday (ninth multi-hit game) with a season-best four RBI and a double.
Leading 4-0 in the third, the Texas A&M offense loaded the bases, but the Tigers' defense clamped down and limited the damage to a single run in the frame.
In the bottom of the third, sophomore third baseman Madison Walker drove the ball out of the park to extend the Tigers' lead to 5-1.
Her 17th home run of the season moves her to tied for third all-time in MU program history for a single-season. It also was Walker's second of the series and third-straight game with a hit.
Daly continued the momentum with an RBI double to left field that drove in sophomore Danielle Blackstun and provided the Tigers a 6-1 lead entering the fourth.
Junior Kayley Lenger added a two-run homer in the bottom of the fifth which brought the Tigers lead to 8-1.
The homer was Lenger's career-best fourth of the season and second of the week. She is on a four-game hitting streak.
Crenshaw rang in her third hit of the game with a single to right field, tying her season-high (third time in 2025). She finished 3-for-3 with a run and a home run in her team-leading 15th multi-hit game. Crenshaw is currently on a four-game reached base streak.
Sophomore outfielder Stefania Abruscato singled to right field to bring freshman outfielder Nevaeh Watkins home. The run gave the Tigers a 9-1 lead to secure the run-rule game in the fifth.
Abruscato posted a pair of hits (ninth multi-hit game in 2025), finishing 2-for-4 with an RBI. She is on an eight-game reached base streak (four-game hitting streak).
Abruscato registered her 15th double of the season and now ranks 10th in MU single-season history. She will move into tied for fifth with one more.
Watkins' registered her first multi-hit game of her career, going 2-for-2 with a run and a walk.
Taylor Ebbs pushed her reached base streak to six games with an HBP.
With a walk, Abby Hay has now reached safely in four-straight games.
Marissa McCann earned the win in the circle, pitching the final 2.0 innings. She allowed no runs on one hit with a strikeout to improve to 9-10 in 2025 (2-6 in SEC in 2025).
Cierra Harrison made the start Friday, allowing just a run on six hits with a strikeout over 3.0 innings.
