
Gymnastics' Helen Hu Wins Beam National Championship

Hu becomes the first Mizzou gymnast to win an individual national championship.
FORT WORTH, Texas – University of Missouri gymnastics' redshirt senior Helen Hu (Chicago, Ill.) won the NCAA Gymnastics Balance Beam National Championship, claiming the title at the NCAA Championship Semifinal on Thursday at Dickies Arena.
Hu's title performance also keyed the Tigers advancing to the NCAA Championship Final as a team as Mizzou advanced to the Four on the Floor for the first time in program history.
Hu scored 9.9875 to clinch MU's spot in the final. The last spot came down between Mizzou and Florida, and the meet's final routine, where Missouri trailed by a quarter tenth Hu stepped to the balance beam and score 9.9875, surpassing the Gators by a 197.3000-197.2000 final.
In her final year of collegiate gymnastics, Hu has been one of the best beam workers in the country and collected nearly every individual award along the way. Hu was named a Women's Collegiate Gymnastics Association First Team All-American, Southeastern Conference Specialist of the Year, won the SEC Balance Beam Championship and the NCAA Seattle Regional Beam Championship and earned three 10s during the season.
In addition to being the first individual champion in program history, Hu joins track and field's Jonathan Seremes as the second individual national champion for Mizzou in 2025.
Mizzou advances to the NCAA Championship Final at Dickies Arena in Fort Worth, Texas, where it faces No. 2 Oklahoma, No. 4 Utah No. 5 UCLA. The national title meet is on Saturday, April 19 at 3 p.m. and will be televised on ABC.
