COLUMBIA, Mo. — University of Missouri tennis head coach Bianca Turati announced the signing of Alex Ackman. Ackman is rated a five-star recruit by Tennis Recruiting Network with a pair of wins against blue-chip recruits.
Attending Florida Virtual School for her high school education, Ackman ranks 59th nationally and 11th in the State of Florida by Babolat Recruiting Lists, holding a 22-16 overall record this year. With a singles Universal Tennis Rating (UTR) of 9.26, the incoming freshman recently competed at the UTR Pro Boca Raton, where she picked up a win over Jessica Kovalcik.
The Sunshine State native made it to the round of 32 at the UTSA Winter National Championships in Orlando over the New Year and advanced to the quarterfinals at the USTA National Level 3 Tournament in September 2024. Ackman battled through the round of eight, ultimately securing a win after a second set 10-3 tiebreaker. Additionally, the signee earned seven 6-0, 6-0 shutout wins in 2024.
"Silvia and I are thrilled to add Alex Ackman to our team in fall 2025," said Turati. "Alex has had some impressive results in the past three months and showed she can play at a very high level. She is a true competitor. She is gritty and plays every point of the match, which is a quality needed in the SEC. Her game style is very physical, and she is an incredible mover from the baseline with great court coverage. I cannot wait to have her here at Mizzou soon as a Tiger and start working with her. I am confident Alex is going to help this program climb the rankings and achieve our goals. Welcome to the family, Alex".
In April 2024, Ackman and doubles partner Summer Chandler took on the J100 Delray Beach Tournament and competed through four rounds of matches, earning a spot in the semifinals. The duo took two tournament matches in straight sets and battled to the semifinal match, ultimately falling in a breaker before the finals.
Throughout her tennis career, Ackman mentioned that her greatest athletic experience came from securing the title at the 2022 USTA National Level 2 Tournament in Coral Gables, Florida. After four rounds of competition, she competed for the tournament title against Alanis Hamilton, grabbing the victory after a 10-8 win in the third-set breaker.
On selecting Mizzou, Ackman commented how the program's "nice coaches and pretty campus" were strong factors in her choice to sign with the Tigers.
