PHILADELPHIA – 25th-ranked University of Missouri wrestling concludes day two of the NCAA Wrestling Championships in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, picking up five wins on the day. The Tigers placed two wrestlers on the podium through the course of the day, keeping them alive for the third day of the tournament. Mizzou sits in 14th place with 29 points heading into the final day.
SESSION III
In the quarterfinals and consolations, two Tigers looked to survive and advance. At 174 pounds, senior Keegan O'Toole faced off against Virginia Tech's Lennox Wolak, dominating his way to a major decision. The victory secured top-six placement and All-American honors for the 2022 and 2023 National Champion.
On the backside of the bracket, redshirt sophomore Cam Steed picked up back-to-back wins by fall over wrestlers from The Citadel and Hofstra to advance to the blood round.
SESSION IV
Making his fifth semifinal appearance, O'Toole secured a late reversal for his second comeback victory of the tournament over Cade DeVos of South Dakota State. He clinched his third finals berth and marked the fifth consecutive season where the Hartland, Wisconsin native will finish third or better.
The former two-time champion will look for a third title on Saturday night in a Big 12 finals rematch against Oklahoma State's Dean Hamiti.
As the only Tiger wrestling in the blood round, Steed put on a show, clinching an All-American finish for the first time in his career. The four-time Oklahoma State Champion picked up a takedown in the ninth minute over Beau Mantanona of Michigan to move ahead. In his second bout of the night, Steed lost a tight decision to Stanford's Hunter Garvin to drop him to the seventh-place bout Saturday morning, where he will face Cam Amine for the third time this season.
