Tennis Signs Transfer Michelle Kleynerman

COLUMBIA, Mo. — University of Missouri tennis head coach Bianca Turati announced the signing of Michelle Kleynerman. Kleynerman is a graduate student transferring from Boston University. 

Attending BU for four years prior, Kleynerman in singles, was 13-9 overall with a 5-7 dual match record and a 1-0 Patriot League record. She played most of her matches at the No. 1 spot, going 4-5 during her junior year. In doubles, she went 10-11 overall, with a 7-5 mark in dual matches and a 1-0 mark in conference play.

The New York native was a five-star recruit, according to TennisRecruiting.net, who ranked as high as No. 40 nationally. She reached the quarterfinals of the USTA National Indoor Championships as a junior while also winning the Eastern Sweet 16 title at Glen Head Racket Club along with a USTA national level II tournament. Kleynerman won a USTA National Level III event at MTC girls 16s her sophomore season, and she played on the Brooklyn Tech varsity girls tennis team as a freshman, winning the school's first NYC PSAL city-wide championship in 15 years.

As a grad transfer from Boston University, she will bring a lot of college playing experience to our roster, said Turati". "She played top in the lineup at her previous school before her unlucky injury. Now she is recovering well, and I have no doubt she will come back stronger than before. Silvia and I cannot wait to have her here to start working together. She has the level we need. Michelle is also very mature and determined. Her character and personality perfectly fit the culture we are building within the program. She will be an important player and leader next year. Welcome on board, Michelle!" 

Throughout her career, Kleynerman has been Patriot League Player of the Week (3.21), 2X Patriot League Academic Honor Roll (2022, 24).When selecting Mizzou, she commented, "I connected instantly with the coaches, the program's values, and the team environment. I had visited Mizzou before and fell in love with the campus." Her favorite things about Columbia include the Athletic facilities, Bud's BBQ, and the overall campus.
