
Six Tigers Head to NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships

Mizzou will look to claim its first individual indoor national championship since 2018.
COLUMBIA, Mo. – University of Missouri track and field will conclude its indoor season by sending six student-athletes to the NCAA Indoor Championships on Friday and Saturday at Virginia Beach Sports Center in Virginia Beach, Va.
The Tigers kick off the slate with their first event at 9:15 a.m. on Friday and 9:30 a.m. on Saturday. Sam Innes (weight throw), Jonathan Seremes (triple jump) and Sterling Scott (triple jump) punched their tickets on the men's side. Euphenie Andre (triple jump), Claudina Diaz (high jump) and Kristi Perez-Snyman (high jump) will vie for a championship title in the women's events. The NCAA announced selections on Wednesday.
TIGERS' CHAMPIONSHIP HISTORY
Mizzou will be seeking its first individual indoor national champion since 2018, with all six competitors looking to claim the first title in program history in their respective events. In total, the Tigers own 12 individual national championships – three on the men's side and nine by the women.
Derrick Peterson won the men's most recent championship in 1999 in the 800-meter run. Jim Crawford, Charlie McMullen, Mike Rabuse, and Dave Rogi won the distance medley relay title in 1974, while Robin Lingle claimed the first national title in program history in 1965 in the 1000-yard run.
The women own titles in five events, with its most recent coming by Karissa Schweizer in the 5000m in 2017 and 2018 and the 3000m in 2018. Kearsten Peoples owns the lone field event championship by the Tigers, which she claimed in the weight throw in 2015, while Ann Marie Brooks, Sunny Gilbert, Kerry Hils and Ashley Wysong claimed the distance medley relay in 2001. The women's first championship came in the 400m by Natasha Kaiser in 1989.
LAST TIME AT THE NCAA INDOOR CHAMPIONSHIPS
Two Tigers represented Missouri at the 2024 NCAA Indoor Championship in Boston with successful performances.
Scott earned a spot on the All-America Second Team after an 11th-place result of 15.50m (50-10.25), the best finish of any freshman triple jumper. His honors marked the first time a Mizzou freshman was awarded All-American honors since Mirieli Santos and Roberto Vilches did so at the 2019 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships.
LAST TIME OUT
The Tigers enter the tournament emerging from a record-breaking indoor season, with the men's team claiming the No. 28 spot in the most recent rankings.
Missouri had a stellar performance at the Southeastern Conference Indoor Championships, highlighted by Seremes claiming the championship title with a triple jump performance of 16.97m (55-8.25).The result broke his previous school record and marked the best collegiate indoor triple jump since the 2023 SEC Indoor Championships. The sophomore was named to the All-SEC First Team.
Scott comes off an eighth-place triple jump result of 15.71m (51-6.5) at the SEC Indoor Championships. He collected multiple podium finishes throughout the season, including a second-place jump and personal best of 16.28m (53-5) at the Alexis Jarrett Invitational.
Redshirt junior Innes seeks the second weight throw title in program history after breaking the school's record at the Bob Teel Invitational with a result of 22.98m (75-4.75), which ranks 13th nationally for his effort.
Perez-Snyman earned fourth in the high jump with a result of 1.86m (6-1.25) at the SEC Indoor Championships. The senior broke the school at the Tyson Invitational, recording 1.88m (6-2), and ended the regular season with a No. 9 national ranking.
Diaz cleared 1.85m (6-0.75) to set a personal best at the Tyson Invitational, standing 15th nationally. The senior also secured a fifth-place result of 1.83m (6-0) at the SEC Indoor Championships.
Andre closed the meet with an eighth-place triple jump result of 13.35m (43-9.75) at the SEC Indoor Championships. The senior tallied a personal record of 13.49m at the Alexis Jarrett Invitational. Her effort stands as second in program history and ranks 11th nationally.
