COLUMBIA, Mo. – The University of Missouri defeated neighboring Saint Louis University on Saturday, 4-0, at Green Tennis Center.
Mizzou continues its winning streak to start the spring season, improving to 3-0, while the Billikens drop to 0-3. The Tigers claimed the doubles point 2-0 and swept the singles matches 3-0 to claim the overall victory.
Freshmen Gian Octa, Korina Roso and Zoe Lazar all led the way. Octa and Roso finished with a 6-1 doubles win against Lizzie Barlow and Angelina Joao, while Octa and Lazar posted singles victories. Octa defeated Madison Hill, 6-0, 6-0, on court four before Lazar tallied a 6-2, 6-0 defeat of Nicolly Ferreira on court two. Additionally, Roso was leading in the sixth spot in the first set, 1-0, over Joao before the match was halted.Â
Senior Mary Brumfield clinched the win for the Tigers in her singles match on the top court with a 6-3, 6-0 victory over junior Fiorella Duran. The senior added a doubles-clinching victory with rookie Andea Artimedi, 6-0, over Duran and Emmerson White.
