No. 12-ranked Mizzou wrestling secured a big win over LIU before dropping an exciting dual to No. 6 Nebraska, going 1-1 at Journeyman Wrestling's Hustle in the Heartland.
At the end of the evening, Missouri's record moved to 6-5, with LIU falling to 0-6 and Nebraska sitting at 5-2.
Missouri won 13 out of 20 matches contested on the evening, picking up bonus points in eight individual matches. The evening was highlighted by redshirt senior Evan Bates' (197lbs) upset win over Nebraska's returning All-American Camden McDanel and redshirt freshman Aeoden Sinclair (184lbs) securing a win over former Big Ten Conference Champion Silas Allred. The night featured four major decisions from Mack Mauger (125), Kade Moore (133), Zeke Seltzer (141) and Josh Edmond (149); three technical falls from Max Mayfield (165), Danny Heiser (174) and Sinclair; and one fall by Bates.
MATCH ONE NOTES - LIU
- The all-time record moves to 1-0 in Mizzou's favor, with the matchup serving as the first between the Tigers and the Sharks.
- The 42-0 result marked Missouri's first shutout win over a Division I opponent since January 10, 2024, a 39-0 win over Stanford.
- True freshman Danny Heiser secured the first dual win of his career in his second appearance. The technical fall was his second of the season.
- Seven Tigers picked up bonus-point wins in the dual, the most since Mizzou notched eight bonus-point victories against Maryville at the Missouri Duals on Nov. 2.
- The Black and Gold's 42 points are the most in a dual against a Division I team for the Tigers since a 55-0 rout of Lindenwood in the 2022-23 season.
MATCH TWO NOTES - NEBRASKA
- Missouri's all-time number against the Cornhuskers falls to 19-39-3, and 5-10 under Head Coach Brian Smith.
- While the head-to-head series is full of history, tonight's meeting was only the second since Nebraska left the Big 12 Conference, with the first being a 19-14 win in the 2015-16 season.
- Edmond picked up a major decision at 149 pounds, his fourth bonus point win of the season, and 22nd of his career.
- With the major decision, Mizzou has secured at least one bonus-point victory in four consecutive duals, going back to the National Duals Invitational on Nov. 16.
- The 157-pound match was a rematch of the opening round at the 2025 NCAA Tournament, a matchup won by Taylor en route to a National Title.
- Bates' upset win over No. 10 Camden McDanel avenges a Big 10 Championship loss from a year ago when he wrestled at Northwestern.
- Sinclair's victory at 184 pounds marked his sixth of the season over a ranked opponent, and 12th on the season total.
