
Mizzou Breaks Three School Records at Day One of Mizzou Invitational

Tigers break three school records, and fourteen swimmers earn NCAA qualifying time standards.
COLUMBIA, Mo. – University of Missouri swimming and diving kicked off day one of the Mizzou Invite in full force as the men's squad set school records in three events. Additionally, 14 swimmers hit a NCAA qualifying time made up of nine individuals and two relays.
To set the tone for the meet, the men's 200 free relay squad of Darden Tate, Luke Nebrich, Ethan Vance, and Francois Malherbe earned an NCAA qualifying standard and broke the school record in 200 free relay with a time of 1:15.64. The previous record was set in 2019 by Luke Mankus, Mikel Schreuders, Danny Kovac and Kyle Leach when they went 1:16.34.
Additionally, Nebrich's lead off performance set the school record in men's 50 free with a time of 18.75. Michael Chadwick held the previous record of 18.97 set in 2017.
The third school record to fall was in the men's 400 IM. Matthew Mortenson recorded a 3:43.01 time to edge Carter Grimes' performance of 3:43.02 set in 2018.
Mizzou's men continued their success in relays with an NCAA qualifying standard time of 3:04.59. Quinlan Gould, Brady Johnson, Jan Zubik and Nebrich earned first in the event.
The women's squad found success of their own in the 200 free relay placing first and earning an NCAA qualifying standard. Zara Zallen, Francesca Smith, Paige Striley and Katie Kuehn finished in 1:29.16. The 400-medley relay squad of Libby Bakker, Karolina Bank, Striley and Zallen also finished first with a time of 3:33.94.
Mizzou's success carried over to diving as both men's and women's squads swept the podium in 1-meter and 3-meter diving.
For the men, Collier Dyer placed first and marked the second highest 1-meter diving score in school history at 422.05. Tanner Braunton and Tommaso Zannella followed Dyer, placing second and third with scores of 411.20 and 338.70, respectively. Derek Colbert finished tied for fourth with a score of 305.00.
Gabriela San Juan Carmona led the Tigers on the podium for the women's 3-meter competition with a score of 330.00. She was followed by the rest of the squad: Mia Henninger (328.45), Jazzelle Eikermann Gregorchuk (313.50), Megan Jolly (305.20), and Olivia Liddle (278.10).
NOTABLE RESULTS
- Striley earned first place and a NCAA qualifying standard time in 100 fly at 52.47.
- Zoe Schneider punched a NCAA qualifying time and took gold in 400 IM with a performance of 4:12.08.
- Brady Johnson capitalized in 100 breast, placing first with a time of 52.37 and earning a NCAA qualifying standard.
- Zallen recorded a NCAA qualifying standard in 100 breast (59.60) and placed second.
- Logan Ottke earned a NCAA qualifying standard, placing second and recording a 52.47 time.
- Piper McNeil swam a 4:13.09 in the 400 IM to earn bronze and a NCAA qualifying standard.
- Lina Bank posted a time of 59.80 in the 100 breast in prelims to get a NCAA qualifying standard time.
