Men’s Basketball Runs Past K-State, 100-91, in Exhibition Victory

Columbia, Mo. – The Mizzou men's basketball team claimed a victory in their exhibition game against Kansas State on Friday night. The Tigers held the lead for 31 minutes en route to a home victory, 100-91.
MIZZOU LEADERS
Four Tigers scored in double figures to lead MU to victory. Junior Anthony Robinson II tied for a team-lead in scoring with 16 points on a perfect 6-for-6 from the field, while also leading the Tigers with four assists in 22 minutes of action.
Grad student Jayden Stone also tallied a team-high with 16 points, connecting on two triples. Senior Shawn Phillips Jr. added a double-double with 14 points and a team-high 10 rebounds, while sophomore Annor Boateng recorded 15 points – on just five field-goal attempts – and six boards.
GAME RECAP
The first stanza went back-and-forth between the two teams, with four lead changes through the first 10 minutes of the contest. Kansas State jumped out to a 16-10 lead before the Tigers rallied off 14 straight, highlighted by an Robinson and-one bucket, followed by a triple for the junior guard. Robinson tallied 11 points during the 14-0 run as Mizzou went in front by eight, 24-16.
The teams traded buckets until the Tigers sparked a 10-4 run, capped off by a Sebastian Mack jumper. Missouri took the lead into halftime, 47-39.
The Tigers started off the second frame with back-to-back Shawn Phillips Jr. slams, extending the lead to 11. The half went back-and-forth until a Jayden Stone dunk ignited a 17-4 run for the Tigers, pushing the lead to 19, 82-63.
The lead was never in doubt the remainder of the game as Mizzou secured the win over its former conference rival, 100-91.
TEAM STATS
Missouri shot 54.8 percent from the field in the winning effort. The Tigers also shot 34 free throws in the victory, capitalizing on 26-of-34 (76.5 percent) attempts.
