COLUMBIA, Mo. — No. 21 University of Missouri wrestling dropped a home contest to No. 15 Stanford, 27-15, Sunday afternoon at Hearnes Center. The Tigers fall to 2-7 (1-1 Big 12) while the Cardinal bumped to 5-2, (0-1 ACC). Mizzou claimed victory in three out of the nine contested matches, picking up one bonus-point victory.
Starting at 125 pounds, Stanford forfeit the weight, giving freshman Gage Walker the win. At 133 pounds, redshirt sophomore Kade Moore stuck around with 10th-ranked Tyler Knox before Knox ultimately took the bout. Mizzou, however, found victory at 141 pounds when redshirt junior Josh Edmond handled Jason Miranda, 9-4. Although a pair of tightly contested matchups ensued, including James Conway's nearly successful comeback against No. 28 Grigor Cholakyan in the lone ranked matchup of the day, the visitors took a 10-9 lead to intermission.
Stanford added to their lead out of the break scoring a pair of victories by decision and technical fall. Redshirt junior Colton Hawks took down Abraham Wojcikiewicz by fall, his second victory by fall this season and fourth bonus-point win. The Cardinal picked up wins in the last two weights to close out the dual.
