Tigers post cumulative GPA of 3.44, record 100 4.0s during fall term.
COLUMBIA, Mo. – University of Missouri student-athletes completed a record-setting semester in the classroom during the Fall 2024 semester, registering a cumulative grade-point average of 3.44, the highest single-semester student-athlete GPA in the university's history. In addition, 19 Mizzou student-athletes earned their degrees during commencement ceremonies earlier this month.
This marks the 16th-consecutive semester Mizzou student-athletes produced an average GPA of 3.0 or higher. The previous high single-semester GPA came in Spring 2023 (3.35).
"At Mizzou, we are committed to achieving excellence in every aspect of the student-athlete experience, and the academic success of our teams reflects that commitment," University of Missouri Director of Athletics Laird Veatch said. "I'm extremely proud of our student-athletes for their hard work in the classroom and the dedication of our athletics department, our academic services staff, our coaches and the entire campus community who support our student-athletes every step of the way."
"Our student-athletes' record success in the classroom is the latest testament to their relentless drive to excel in all areas of their lives," Mizzou Executive Athletics Director for Academic Services Tami Chievous said. "Reaching these academic milestones takes teamwork, discipline and a commitment to their future. I'm grateful to our coaches, faculty and academic support staff members who create an environment that prioritizes academic achievement."
Overall, 100 student-athletes posted a perfect 4.0 GPA during the Fall 2024 semester across 18 programs, while 311 finished with a 3.50 or higher and 436 recorded a 3.0 or higher.
