Mizzou Women's Basketball Cruises Past Little Rock in CPS Education Game

COLUMBIA, Mo. – University of Missouri women's basketball secured a commanding 78-49 victory over Little Rock on Friday afternoon at Mizzou Arena.
The Tigers were led by sophomore Grace Slaughter who notched 19 points, knocking down three triples while shooting seven-of-12 from the field.
Senior Nyah Wilson totaled 19 points, her most in a Missouri uniform. Wilson shot three-of-four from beyond the arc while notching three rebounds and three assists in the contest.
Graduate Angelique Ngalakulondi recorded nine points on three-of-five shooting while nabbing a team-high eight rebounds.
Missouri started strong with a triple from Slaughter, which ignited the Tigers to score on each of their first six possessions as they took a 16-4 lead into the initial timeout.
Slaughter commanded the offense as the Tigers shot a perfect three-of-three from beyond the arc in the opening frame.
Missouri finished the quarter nine-of-12 from the field led by Slaughter's team-high 14 to take an early 25-7 lead.
Little Rock settled in to start the second frame, but two buckets from Angelique Ngalakulondi sparked a 17-3 run for the Tigers to effectively put the game out of reach. The scoring run was capped off by an Averi Kroenke jumper that gave Missouri a 44-22 lead at the break.
Ngalakulondi ended the quarter with seven points and four rebounds to power the Tigers.
Missouri once again caught fire to open the second half as a Slaughter steal led to a triple for Wilson on the offensive end. Wilson took over in the period scoring 15 of her final total behind six-of-eight makes from the floor.
Missouri held strong on the defensive end, holding Little Rock to three-of-12 shooting in the quarter. The Tigers closed the frame with a 36-point lead.
Missouri cruised to the victory in the fourth with freshman guard Londyn Oliphant and sophomore forward Tionna Herron each getting in the scoring column in the final minutes.
The Tigers forced 14 turnovers, nabbing five steals. Missouri converted the takeaways into 15 points.
The Tigers dominated the boards, outrebounding Little Rock 45 to 29 in the contest.

Missouri will travel to Destin, Florida to face Syracuse and either Creighton or Wichita State in the Emerald Coast Classic on Monday and Tuesday, respectively. Both contests will stream live on FloCollege.com
