Schreacke Notches Career High, Women's Basketball Defeats Western Illinois

Macomb, Ill. – Sophomore Abbey Schreacke tallied a career-high 26 points to lead University of Missouri women's basketball to a victory over Western Illinois 75-55 on Friday night.
Schreacke's scoring total came behind an eight-of-14 shooting performance from beyond the arc. The sophomore added three rebounds to complete her stat line.
Sophomore Grace Slaughter contributed 14 points with two triples and grabbed six boards.
Senior Laniah Randle added 11 points and nine rebounds to mark her third consecutive game with a double-digit scoring total.
Senior Nyah Wilson rounded out the offensive performers with 10 points, two assists and a pair of rebounds.
Western Illinois claimed the first basket following the game's opening tip, but a 3-pointer by sophomore Grace Slaughter ignited a 9-0 Tigers run that was capped by Slaughter at the free throw line.
Following the charge, junior Ashton Judd and Schreacke buried back-to-back triples to give the Tigers a 15-10 advantage.
Western Illinois responded with a run of its own to close the quarter and led by two after the first frame.
Missouri took control of the contest in the second quarter as the Tigers' offense went on an 18-2 scoring run spearheaded by 14 points from Schreacke. Missouri's defense held Western Illinois to just 21.4 percent from the field in the frame.
Schreacke totaled 17 points at the half to match her existing career high.
Both teams exchanged baskets in the opening minutes of the third. Schreacke continued to power the Tigers as she began and ended a 9-4 run in the heart of the period with a pair of 3-pointers to extend the Missouri advantage to 12 points at the end of the frame.
The Tigers raced out of the gates in the fourth as Schrecke netted a triple to begin an 11-4 scoring charge that which was bookended by four straight points by Randle to give Missouri a 68-47 lead.
Missouri incrementally increased its lead until the final buzzer.
The Tigers converted 12 of their 25 3-point attempts and outrebounded the Leathernecks 48 to 31.
