COLUMBIA, Mo. – University of Missouri women's swimming and diving earned a No. 25 national ranking in the October edition of the College Swimming and Diving Association of America (CSCAA) Division I Top 25 dual meet poll, the organization announced.
Mizzou made its initial appearance in the CSCAA poll after securing a season-opening dual victory at Arkansas last Saturday. Karolina Bank captured gold in all three of her events in the Tigers' 174-125 victory over the Razorbacks. The junior won the 100 breast with a time of 1:00.41, which currently ranks as the second-fastest in the SEC and fourth-best in the nation. Bank also notched a win in the 200 breast and helped the Tigers' 200 medley relay claim a victory as well.
Freshman Katie Gresik picked up a win in the 1000 free in her MU debut, while Sydney Bales (100 back), Taylor Williams (200 fly), Zara Zallen (200 free), Abbey Taute (200 back) and Grace Hanson (100 fly) also brought home golds in individual events for the Tigers.
Virginia (420) maintained its hold on the top spot in the CSCAA's rankings, followed closely by No. 2 Texas (413). The top five remained unchanged, with Florida (390), Stanford (371), and Tennessee (361) retaining their respective rankings. In total, 31 teams from five conferences received votes this month.
The voting committee, consisting of Division I coaches, evaluates and ranks the nation's top 25 dual meet teams. Their assessment considers head-to-head dual meet outcomes, recent performances since the last rankings, season-long results, dual meet records, roster changes (such as injuries), and data from the SwimCloud Simulator. It's important to note that the poll's objective is not to predict the top finishers in a championship meet format.
