COLUMBIA, Mo. – With the 2022 football season fast approaching, the University of Missouri Department of Athletics in conjunction with the Division of Student Affairs is pleased to announce a pair of additional student offerings, a pregame football tailgate and the ability to use Tiger Cash at concession stands.
Both initiatives were created in to encourage Mizzou students to engage in campus traditions, generate greater fan excitement around game days and act on feedback received from meetings with student groups over the offseason.
STUDENT TAILGATE
Athletics will play host to a free and inclusive student tailgate on the grassy area east of Brooks Hall for 2022 football game days. This University/Athletics-sponsored student tailgate reinforces a fundamental best practice of cultivating supportive and inclusive communities for all Mizzou students.
Approaching Mizzou's long-standing tailgating tradition in a new way, the student event is free and open to all students, and any of the approximately 600 registered student-body organizations, including 53 fraternity and sorority chapters, are encouraged to attend and participate.
Numerous free activities will be provided, including music and DJ services, lawn games, face painting and special activities based on a game (e.g., family weekend inflatables). Food and alcohol may be purchased from University-approved local food trucks and providers. An outside vendor will manage beer, seltzer and wine sales to those over the age of 21 and non-alcoholic alternatives will be available.
Hours of Operation: Gates for student tailgate will open four hours – three hours for 11 a.m. CT kickoffs – prior to kickoff and close when the game gets underway. Last call will be 40 minutes prior to kickoff with a March to the Stadium taking place with 30 minutes left on the pregame clock.
NEW STUDENT DINING OFFERINGS
In another impactful gameday addition, Mizzou students will be able to take advantage of using Tiger Cash at Athletics events during the 2022-23 season. Tiger Cash, preloaded on student ID cards, can be utilized to purchase food and non-alcoholic beverages from the concession stands, creating an accessible way for students to pay for concessions at all Tigers sporting events.
Dining plans (aka ZOU Plans) will NOT be accepted for payment at Mizzou Athletics venues. ONLY Tiger Cash will be accepted. Tiger Cash can be accepted at all locations except the MasterCard Food Lockers. Students cannot purchase alcohol with their Tiger Cash.
The Tigers kick off the 2022 season on Thursday, Sept. 1 at 7 p.m. CT against Louisiana Tech inside Faurot Field. Tickets for Mizzou's first night game since 2019 are available by calling 1-800-CAT-PAWS or by visiting the football tickets page online.
