
Ames Burton Earns Spot on Team USA

Freshman finishes second in discus on Friday.
COLUMBIA, Mo. – University of Missouri track and field's Ames Burton earned a spot on Team USA for the World U20 Championships in August.
Competing at the USA Track and Field U20 Championships, she tossed a 54.08m / 177-5 in the discus on Friday in Eugene, Ore. – good for the No. 4 performance all-time at Mizzou. She'll represent Team USA at the World U20 Championships (Cali, Columbia) in August. Burton redshirted her freshman year in 2022 and has four seasons of eligibility remaining in the Black & Gold.
In Thursday's nationl championship action, Christopher Conrad ran a 1:50.29 to finish 25th in the prelim of the 800m. In the 1,500m prelim, Karissa Schweizer finished second in her heat and 15th overall (4:14.80) to advance to Saturday's event final. Taylor Ciccolini was fifth in the U20 javelin (45.05m / 147-9).

Also on Saturday, June 25, Atina Kamasi will compete in the javelin at the Serbian National Championships. She holds a personal best of 49.76m / 163-3. Volunteer assistant coach Jillian Weir will compete in the preliminary round of the hammer throw on Friday at the Canadian National Championships. She holds a personal best of 72.64m.
