Missouri Advances Four To Semifinals after Session 1 at Big 12 Championships

The Tigers finish the first session in fourth place with 40.5 points
TULSA, Okla. – The University of Missouri wrestling team sits in fourth place with 40.5 points after session 1 at the Big 12 Championships at the BOK Center in Tulsa, Okla. The first session on Saturday afternoon included first round and quarterfinal matches.
Session 2 will begin at 5 p.m. CT and will be streamed live on ESPN+.
The Tigers qualified four wrestlers for Saturday night's semifinal matches. The first to qualify was 141-pound junior Allan Hart. Following a first-round bye, Hart dominated to a 9-2 win over Utah Valley's Ty Smith. He will take on North Dakota State's Dylan Droegemueller in the semifinals
At 165 pounds, freshman Keegan O'Toole beat Oklahoma's Joey Grello by 6-2 decision to advance out of the quarterfinals. He will wrestle Luke Weber in the semifinals. O'Toole beat Weber by fall on Nov. 11 to open the season.
Redshirt sophomore Peyton Mocco tallied two wins at 174 pounds in session 1 to advance into the semifinals. In the first round, he took down Utah Valley's Kekana Fouret in a 13-4 major decision. Mocco followed up the performance by upsetting Oklahoma's third-seeded Anthony Mantanona in a third-period fall.
Missouri's last semifinal qualifier came in an upset from redshirt sophomore Jeremiah Kent. The sixth-seeded Columbia native beat Wyoming's third-seeded Tate Samuelson in a 6-2 decision to advance to Saturday night.
The Tigers also picked up first-round wins from Connor Brown at 133 pounds, Josh Edmond at 149 pounds and Rocky Elam at 197 pounds. Brown upset third-seeded Gabriel Tagg from South Dakota State in a 6-4 decision. Edmond grabbed bonus points against in a tech-fall win against Utah Valley's Cameron Hunsaker and Elam won by major decision against Northern Iowa's John Gunderson.
Brown, Edmond, Rocky Elam, Zach Elam, Jarrett Jacques and Noah Surtin will all wrestle in the first round of the consolation bracket in session 2 on Saturday night.
