COLUMBIA, Mo. – University of Missouri women's basketball's Aijha Blackwell was named as one of 10 finalists for the Cheryl Miller Award, honoring the top small forward in women's college basketball.
Blackwell has led the Tigers in scoring and rebounding throughout the season and she has put up 17 double doubles over 23 games. She ranks second nationally in both rebounding and double doubles. Her 292 rebounds on the season are the fifth-most in a single season by a Tiger.
Earlier this season against Alabama A&M, Blackwell posted the first 20-point, 20-rebound game for Mizzou since 1997. She has received two SEC Co-Player of the Week honors while putting up impressive numbers offensively and defensively.
Last season, Blackwell earned Second Team All-SEC honors after averaging 14.5 points and 11.0 rebounds per game. She became just the fifth player in program history to average a double double in a single season and the first since the 1997-98 season.
