Three Tigers sit in the top 15
BOCA TATON, FLA. – The University of Missouri's women's golf team closed out the opening day of their spring season earlier this evening in fourth place at the FAU Paradise Invitational with three Tigers in the top-15. The squad is currently sitting at 9-under-par, trailing behind fellow SEC programs Mississippi State, Florida and Vanderbilt. The anticipated plan of 36 consecutive holes was left unfinished with approximately three holes remaining due to darkness after the event got off to a late start caused by a morning fog delay. Junior Brianne Bolden is currently pacing the Tigers in fourth place with a 7-under overall with one hole left to go in her second round.
"I'm really pleased with how we started & finished today. It was so great to see Bri compete at such a high level. Her rhythm and tempo with her swing were on point. We had a lot of great approach shots today & connected on some great birdie opportunities," said head coach Stephanie Preismeyer.
Bolden fired a 2-under 70 to start the day and caught fire late in the second round, sinking five birdies within seven holes.
Sophomore Emily Staples follows close behind at T-8 with a current 5-under overall score with one hole remaining. Staples fired a career-low-tying 2-under 70 in her first 18-holes and is also on pace to card another round under-par.
Capping off the Tigers in the top-15 is junior Sophia Yoemans who shot an even-par 72 and continued her strong performance into the second round with five birdies thus far.
Senior Noelle Beijer's day was highlighted by her first 18-holes where she shot a 2-over 74. She currently stands at T-65 to finish the remaining round tomorrow and rounding out the Tigers is senior Keagan Dunn who is posted a 5-over 77 to sit in 75th place currently.
Play will resume tomorrow morning at 7:30 a.m. EST to finish the remainder of the second round and lead straight into the final round.
