Tigers Set Sights on SEC Indoor T&F Championships

The two-day competition begins Friday in College Station, Texas.
COLLEGE STATION, Texas — University of Missouri Track and Field is set for the SEC Indoor Championships, hosted by Texas A&M at Gilliam Indoor Stadium in College Station, Texas. The Championships will be streamed on SECN+ both Friday and Saturday.
Competition begins Friday, February 25 with the multis at 11:30 a.m., the field events at 4:30 p.m. and the track events at 5:20 p.m. On Saturday, February 26, the multis resume at 10 a.m., the field events at 1:15 p.m. and track events at 4:10 p.m.
The women's team's first competitor is Isabella Sokolova (Sofia, Bulgaria) in the women's pentathlon at 12 p.m. on Friday. Five Tigers will take to the track in the men's mile preliminary at 5:34 p.m. on Friday.
Roberto Vilches (Mexico City, Mexico) still holds the NCAA's top high jump mark this season (2.26m, 7-5) after taking the title in the Razorback Invitational in January. Arianna Fisher (San Jose, Calif.) is currently eighth nationally with a triple jump of 13.59m (44-7), setting a school record at the Tyson Invitational in February. Georgi Nachez (Yambol, Bulgaria) ranks seventh nationally with a triple jump of 16.28m (53-5), the No. 2 mark in school history and a personal best set in January at the Razorback Invitational.
Last year at the SEC Indoor Championships, three Tigers earned All-SEC honors: Fisher (second, triple jump), Davis Helmerich (Highland Ranch, Colo.) (ninth, mile) and Rece Rowan (Colorado Springs, Colo.) (eighth, shot put).
The indoor regular season ended with a school record in the men's distance medley relay at the JDL Fast Track in Winston-Salem, N.C., where the men's DMR — Helmerich (Highland Ranch, Colo.), Jacob Brunsman (Fenton, Mo.), Matthew Harding (Colwyn Bay, U.K.) and Martin Prodanov (Plovdiv, Bulgaria) — finished third with a school-record clocking of 9:30.71, breaking a 16-year mark of 9:35.25 (2005).
This weekend starts the postseason campaign, continuing with the NCAA Indoor Championships on March 10-12. Outdoor season is scheduled to begin with the Texas Relays March 25-26.
