Columbia, Mo. – University of Missouri Women's Basketball head coach Robin Pingeton announced the addition of Abbey Schreacke who signed her National Letter of Intent on Wednesday and will continue her academic and athletic career at the University of Missouri. Schreacke is the second player from Quincy, IL to join the Tigers since Jordan Frericks—a Mizzou standout from 2013-2017.
"They say you can't coach effort, and I am confident I will never have to with Abbey," said Pingeton. "She is as competitive as they come, she's tough, and she's a proven winner, as her all-state honors and championships in multiple sports demonstrate. Her blue-collar, relentless work-ethic will raise the bar in our workouts, practices, and games in a way that we trust will elevate our program. Not only is she a talented basketball player, but she is an equally talented student with 4.0 GPA and impressive academic achievements. She is the definition of well-rounded, and we cannot wait to get her to Columbia!"
Schreacke, a 6-0 guard at Quincy Notre Dame, is a four-sport athlete and is no stranger to winning. As a junior, she averaged 26.2 points, 8.7 rebounds, and 3.2 assists per game to lead the Raiders to a 30-3 record and a Class 2A state championship. Her 35-point, 11-rebound, and 4-steal performance in the state championship game capped off a season in which she was the Herald-Whig Girls' Basketball Player of the Year, the News-Gazette's 2022 Player of the Year, the IHSB 2A Player of the Year, and the leading vote-getter on the Associated Press Class 2A All-State team for the second year in a row. However, basketball is not the only arena in which Schreacke excels. She is the starting shortstop for the Quincy Notre Dame softball team, an all-state middle hitter on the volleyball team, and recently joined the golf team. Notably, she has won a regional title in all four of her sports. Schreacke is also a 4.0 student.
"The University of Missouri is the best place for me to further build my character," said Schreacke. "From the advanced education to the competitive basketball team, I know Mizzou will bring me to the next level."
