
No. 3 Wrestling Heads to Tempe, Ariz. to Dual No. 5 Arizona State

TEMPE, ARIZ. - The University of Missouri wrestling team is set to take on its first ranked opponent of the 2022-23 in No. 5 Arizona State. The team will travel to Tempe, Ariz. Thursday, Nov. 17, and be the first to take on the Sun Devil wrestlers inside Mullett Arena. The dual is scheduled to begin at 8 p.m. CT.
— REIGNING, DEFENDING, UNDISPUTED — Defending national champion sophomore Keegan O'Toole earned the 165 title at the Tiger Style Invite, Nov. 12, over No. 14 ranked Danny Braunagel of Illinois in the finals matchup. His three wins on the day extending his streak to 33 consecutive bouts dating back to the 2021 NCAA Championships. O'Toole is the top-ranked 165-pounder by all major publications and is ranked sixth by FloWrestling on the pound-for-pound list.
— DARTH MAULLER — Redshirt junior Brock Mauller continues to shine in his return to the mat to represent the Black and Gold after taking 2021-22 as a redshirt year. The Columbia, Mo. native has started the season 4-0 with two bonus-point victories, and is ranked eighth at 149 pounds.
— MILESTONE WATCH — Redshirt junior Brock Mauller enters the season as the team's winningest active wrestler. At 91 career wins, Mauller has the chance to become the 29th Tiger to enter the exclusive 100-Win Club. Senior Jarrett Jacques is right on Mauller's heels with 90 wins of his own.
— TITLE TOWN — Mizzou saw success at the Tiger Style Invite, Nov. 12, in Kansas City. The Tigers earned five individual weight titles, as well as winning the overall event with a team score of 187.5.
Redshirt junior Brock Mauller won the 149 final against No. 15 ranked Dom Demas of Cal Poly, while senior Jarrett Jacques earned three bonus-point victories on his way to a 4-0 day and the 157 title. Sophomore Keegan O'Toole pinned No. 14 Dan Braunagel of Illinois to claim the 165 throne at the invite. Missouri claimed first, second and third at 184 as sophomore Colton Hawks, redshirt sophomore Sean Harman and freshman Clayton Whiting dominated the weight class, respectively. Finally, the hometown hero of the day, redshirt junior Zach Elam recorded two pins and a major decision on his way to the top of the 185 weight class at his alma mater, Staley High School.
— ALL-TIME vs. ASU — The Tigers are 2-4-1 all-time against Arizona State and have split the last two meetings with the Sun Devils.
— LAST FACEOFF — Mizzou brought home a win from Tempe, Ariz. the last time the two teams competed, Feb. 12, 2022. The Tigers gained momentum from a Keegan O'Toole pin at 165 pounds. Peyton Mocco earned the technical fall at 174, 21-6, and Rocky Elam picked up his highest ranked victory to that point in the season, earned a 4-2 decision over No. 10 ranked Kordell Norfleet at 197 pounds. Missouri defeated Arizona State, 19-14.
