Mizzou Basketball Powers Past Lindenwood

Columbia, Mo. – The Mizzou men's basketball team posted an 82-53 victory over Lindenwood Sunday night in front of 7,914 fans at Mizzou Arena. With the win, the Tigers improve to 3-0 on the season, while Lindenwood falls to 1-2.

Three Tigers scored in double figures and combined for nearly half of the team's points. The offensive charge was led by senior Kobe Brown, who posted a team-leading 15 points, nine rebounds and six assists. Senior Noah Carter and graduate student Nick Honor followed with 14 and 11 points, respectively.

The Tigers jumped to the early lead and used an 11-2 run to grab its first double-digit advantage of the game, 22-11, halfway through the opening period. Mizzou was then able to stretch is edge shortly before the break – using a 10-0 spurt led by two 3-point jumpers from Honor and a dunk from Carter to take a 15-point lead, 40-25.

The Tigers maintained their double-digit lead early in the second stanza before a late run clinched the 29-point victory. Leading by 10, 56-46, Mizzou forced the Lions to miss 16 of their next 17 shots. Graduate D'Moi Hodge ignited a run on the offensive end with seven-straight points for the hosts with the Tigers finishing the game with a 26-7 spurt to secure the 82-53 win.

The Tigers shot 34-of-63 (54%) from the field, going 8-of-27 (30%) from 3-point range. Mizzou also recorded a season-best 22 assists in the winning effort, marking the third-straight game with 20-plus helpers.

Defensively, Mizzou also held the Lions to a 15-of-56 (27%) mark from the field and 5-of-24 (21%) from 3-point range, while forcing 19 Lindenwood turnovers and converting that into 20 points.
