Women’s Basketball Opens Regular Season Against Missouri State

Mizou's 47th season tips off at 6 p.m. Monday on ESPN+

COLUMBIA, Mo. – University of Missouri Women's Basketball begins its 2022-23 regular season slate on the road against Missouri State. The game tips off at 6 p.m. Monday from Great Southern Bank Arena and will be broadcast on ESPN+ and KTGR radio.

For Missouri, the matchup will mark the start of the program's 47th year. The Tigers are 823-613 all-time.

Missouri holds a 39-9 record in season openers. The Tigers are looking for their fifth-straight triumph to begin a year. A win would improve the program to 11-1 in opening contests under the leadership of Head Coach Robin Pingeton, who begins her 13th year at the helm.

Monday will also mark the 33rd meeting between the two in-state foes. Mizzou has a 22-10 advantage in the historical series.

Each school completed an exhibition game this preseason. The Tigers posted a 70-27 win in their preseason tuneup against Northwest Missouri State on Thursday, Oct. 27. Meanwhile, the Bears claimed a victory over Missouri S&T, 58-44 on Wednesday.

Senior Hayley Frank headlines this year's roster. Frank led all-current Tigers with 15.0 points per game a season ago. Last month, she was named to the Preseason All-SEC Second Team.

In the matchup against the Bears, fans will get their first glimpse of Tiger newcomers Katlyn Gilbert, Averi Kroenke and Ashton Judd. Gilbert, a former McDonald's All-American, joined the program as a grad transfer this offseason following four years at Notre Dame.

Judd and Kroenke comprised Missouri's most recent signing class. Kroenke, a local product out of Rock Bridge High School in Columbia, Mo. was the nation's No. 21 ranked guard while Judd was named the state's Class 5 Player of the Year.
