No. 9 Missouri Defeats No. 20 Oklahoma On The Road

The Tigers collected six match wins including two bonus-point victories
NORMAN, Okla. – The 11th-ranked University of Missouri wrestling team (7-2, 5-0 Big 12) took down No. 20 Oklahoma 23-14 at McCasland Field House in Norman, Oklahoma, on Thursday night. The Tigers took four of the final five matches.
In their first dual against Oklahoma (5-3, 2-2 Big 12) since 2017, the Tigers won two matches by bonus points. After the Sooners went up early, junior Allan Hart registered a pin at 141 pounds for Mizzou's second win of the night. He was followed at 165 pounds by freshman Keegan O'Toole, who tallied his 12th bonus-point win of the season with a 18-3 technical fall.
Redshirt Noah Surtin started the scoring for Mizzou at 125 pounds with a third-period takedown to flip the advantage to 4-3. Ranked wins came at 184 pounds with redshirt sophomore Jeremiah Kent grabbing a 6-4 victory, and Rocky and Zach Elam winning their bouts at 197 and 285 pounds, respectively.
Rocky beat No. 12 Jake Woodley 4-1 while Zach defeated No. 29 John Heindselman 5-3 in his first match since Dec. 21.
Top Tigers
- No. 3 O'Toole racked up another bonus-point victory in the dual win. All but two of his wins this season have come by major decision or better.
- Hart recorded his second win by fall of the season. His first pin came Jan. 1 at the Southern Scuffle.
- Redshirt freshman Sean Harman wrestled in the starting lineup for the first time this season. In his first dual competition this year, he lost in riding-time criteria.

"We got out with a win, but I thought we could wrestle better," head coach Brian Smith said. "I really liked the way Allan Hart and Keegan O'Toole wrestled, as well as Jeremiah battling back after getting cradled. I saw some good things, but we have to put it together as a team."
