TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Mizzou Baseball (12-28, 5-15 SEC) dropped another tight contest in a 5-2 loss at Alabama (27-15, 10-10 SEC) on Saturday at Sewell-Thomas Stadium.
For a second-straight day, Mizzou struck first in the early innings. Senior Brandt Belk doubled for the third-straight game and scored on Tre Morris' RBI-single to left in the second inning.
Alabama tied the game in the third with a solo home run. The Tide would take a lead in the fourth on an RBI-groundout and added another in the fifth on a two-out single to build a 3-1 lead.
Mizzou cut the deficit to 3-2 when Belk pulled off a straight steal of home in the seventh. It was Mizzou's first steal of home since 2017 and the first straight steal of the plate since 2002.
The Tide put the game away with a pair of insurance runs on a single, triple and sacrifice fly in the eighth inning.
Senior Konnor Ash (1-2) made his first start of the year and took the loss. He worked four innings and allowed three runs while striking out three. Sophomore Spencer Miles worked four innings out of the bullpen and surrendered a pair of runs while striking out two.

HEAR FROM THE SKIPPER
Head coach Steve Bieser on Ash's return to rotation…
"It was a nice start from Konnor. He kept us in the game and he kind of got to the point that he really hasn't been in a while, especially as the starter. He was battling his tail off and gave up a run in the third, fourth and fifth and that ended up being the difference; but, I thought he did a solid job."
