Steelman claimed his second career win this week at the Missouri Tiger Invitational
COLUMBIA, Mo. – Mizzou Men's Golf redshirt sophomore Ross Steelman was named Co-SEC Newcomer of the Week alongside Auburn's Alex Vogelsong as announced Thursday by the league office.
Steelman led the Tigers to sweep the Missouri Tiger Invitational titles this week, marking the team's first tournament win since the fall of 2019 and his second career win.
The Columbia native came out of the gate firing on his home course, carding a 7-under 65 in the opening round to tie his second career-best 18-hole score. Quickly following with a 69 and 66, Steelman produced a collective score of 200, setting a new personal best event score and new Tiger Invitational all-time individual 54-hole record.
His performance tallied his fifth season event under par which includes 11 rounds under par within the seven tournaments. He entered the week ranked No. 44 nationally with now potential to break into the Top-35 from his tournament win.
The Tigers wrapped up their regular season and hit the greens next in two weeks at the SEC Championship in Sea Island, Ga.
