Mizzou Clinches Tiger Invitational Team, Individual Titles

Victory marks head coach Mark Leroux’s 50th career tournament win
COLUMBIA, Mo. – The Tigers swept the Missouri Tiger Invitational titles Tuesday afternoon after the team finished in first with a 25-under par 839 (279-281-279) and redshirt-sophomore Ross Steelman dropped a 16-under par to claim the individual honor. The team's first season victory also marks head coach Mark Leroux's 50th career tournament win.
All five Tigers in the team lineup finished in the Top-25. Their collective 839 score matches the program's own 54-hole team score tournament record that was set in 2018.
Powerhouse Steelman could not be stopped in his hometown Tuesday with his bogey-free, 6-under par final round which included six birdies. He came out of the gate fast on day one firing a 65 and 69 to ultimately post his seventh consecutive round under-par. The Columbia native put together a collective score of 200 to set the new, low 54-hole score for the Missouri Tiger Invitational. This is Steelman's first season win and second career.
Posting his career-best finish in 13th place was junior Tommy Boone. He remained a constant for the team over the two days, firing back-to-back even-par scores on day one followed by a 2-under 70 in the final round. He claimed his first career event under-par with a 2-under 214 total.
Following close behind was sophomore Yu-Ta Tsai whose performance was highlighted in the second round with his 3-under 69 which included an eagle. He sandwiched that with a 74 and 72 to finish at 1-under par overall to also snatch his career-best finish at T-14.
With a pair of 1-under 71s on Monday, Rory Franssen closed a solid performance finishing with a 1-over at T-21. Rounding out the lineup was Walker Kesterson who carded a 4-over 76 in between two 1-under 71s. He secured his season-best finish at T-24.
The three Mizzou competing individuals were led by Jack Parker who finished strong with a 1-under 71 to close at T-33. Sophomore Viktor Einarsson showcased a career-best 18-hole score in the second round with a 4-under 68, placing at T-49. Finally, Michael Terblanche ended at T-50 with a 10-over par 226 after firing his best score on day one.
This concludes the Mizzou Men's Golf 2020-21 regular season. The Southeastern Conference Championships take place in two weeks in Sea Island, Ga.
