Jess is a two-time NCAA Regional Individual Qualifier
COLUMBIA, MO.— Mizzou women's golfer Jess Yuen is headed to the postseason after being selected as an NCAA Regional Individual Qualifier. The NCAA field was announced on the Golf Channel on Wednesday afternoon.
Yuen, a senior from Bolingbrook, Illinois, earned her second career individual NCAA Regional bid. She first made an NCAA Regional appearance in 2017 as a sophomore, eventually reaching the NCAA Championships and placing T-57 overall, the highest NCAA individual finish in program history.
Yuen is just the second Tiger in program to qualify individually for an NCAA Regional twice, joining Mizzou legend Julia Potter, who did so in 2009 and 2010. Yuen is just the sixth Mizzou player overall to clinch an NCAA Regional berth.
The decorated senior will compete May 10-12 at the Louisville Regional in Simpsonville, Kentucky. Yuen will play at the Louisville Golf Club alongside five other individuals and competitors from 18 different programs.
The top three individuals at the NCAA Regionals will advance to the NCAA Championships, which are set to take place May 21-26 at the Grayhawk Golf Club in Scottsdale, Arizona.
Yuen has led Mizzou in scoring in five consecutive tournaments and boasted a team-best 74.9 scoring average during the 2020-21 campaign. She was electric during the spring season, with four consecutive Top-20 finishes to round out the regular season, including a season-best T-3 performance at the Liz Murphey Spring Collegiate Classic and a T-5 finish at The Bruzzy.
Yuen has racked up 35 rounds under par in her career heading into her final postseason as a Tiger. Her career-low round of 65 is tied for the best 18-hole score in program history.
