Tigers take 8-2 win over Texas A&M on Friday night
COLUMBIA, Mo. – Mizzou Baseball (9-17, 2-6 SEC) turned in its most complete game of the season to bounce back for an 8-2 win over Texas A&M (19-10, 3-5 SEC) to even the series on Saturday night at Taylor Stadium.
Redshirt sophomore Seth Halvorsen (3-1) spun a gem on the mound for Mizzou, going a career-long seven innings. He allowed just two runs on two hits while striking out a career-high 10 batters.
Senior Mark Vierling drove the second pitch he saw into the Tiger bullpen for a lead-off home run in Mizzou's half of the first. In the third, freshman Trevor Austin launched a lead-off blast of his own to left center to tie the game 2-2.
The Tigers scored three times in the fourth to take a 5-2 lead. Sophomore Torin Montgomery drove one home with a flare to right field while Vierling and senior Brandt Belk pushed runs across with a walk and hit-by-pitch, respectively.
Mizzou added a run in the seventh and two in the eighth to secure the victory.
