The Tigers will host two home meets on the season
COLUMBIA, Mo. — Mizzou Track and Field announced its schedule for the 2021 Outdoor Track and Field season on Tuesday, featuring two home meets and four road trips on the regular season. Postseason competition will kick off with the SEC Championships in College Station, Texas. The Tigers will then return to College Station for the first round of the NCAA Championships.
"After a long winter and a missed season, we are thrilled to have the opportunity to compete this spring," Head Coach Brett Halter said. "We have been able to assemble a challenging schedule. For our long time Tiger fans, one of the most exciting weekends during our regular season includes lining up against Kansas! After nearly a decade, we are excited to renew the oldest rivalry west of the Mississippi!"
To open the outdoor season, Mizzou will host the Mizzou Spring Opener at Audrey J. Walton Stadium on March 19-20, kicking off the first of two home meets on the season.
The Tigers then hit the road for Austin, Texas to compete in the Texas Relays. Mizzou last competed in the Texas Relays in the 2019 Outdoor season. After a week off, Mizzou then returns home to host the annual Tom Botts Invitational on April 10 and 11 for the final home meet of the season.
For the final three meets of the season, Mizzou will be on the road, first traveling to Auburn, Ala to compete in the War Eagle Invitational on April 16-17. The Tigers will then send split squads to Des Moines, Iowa and Fayetteville, Ark., on April 23 and 24 for the Drake Relays and John McDonnell Invitational, respectively.
For the final meet of the regular season, Mizzou then travels to its neighboring state for a showdown with old Big-12 foe, Kansas, in the Kansas Invitational on April 30 and May 1.
Following the regular season, Mizzou will begin postseason competition with SEC Outdoor Championships in College Station, Texas on May 13-15. The Tigers will then return to Texas for the NCAA West Preliminary Championships on May 27-29. Those who qualify will then head out West to Eugene, Ore., for the NCAA Outdoor Championships, set for June 9-12.
