
Endo Nabs NCAA Championships Invite on Platform

LEXINGTON, Ky. – The Mizzou freshman Takuto Endo (Tagajo, Japan) earned a berth to the 2021 NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships on Friday during day two action at the NCAA Zone D Diving Championships at Lancaster Aquatic Center in Lexington, Ky. Endo placed seventh on platform to claim his NCAA bid.
KEY PERFORMANCES
Endo recorded a two-round total of 641.65 points to take seventh on platform and secure his NCAA Championships berth. The freshman was 11th after prelims but tallied four dives of 58.0 or higher, including a 70.4 on his final dive, to jump into seventh at the end of the final. Zones mark only the third collegiate meet for Endo, who joined the Mizzou program in January.
After earning an NCAA bid on Thursday, sophomore Carlo Lopez (Edmonton, Alberta, Canada) added platform to his NCAA list after taking ninth on platform on Friday. Lopez went 347.85 in prelims and 278.3 in finals for a total of 626.15 points for ninth. Since he claimed his NCAA bid on Thursday, Lopez only had to finish in the top 12 of platform to qualify to dive he event at the Championships.
Junior Ike Khamis (Richmond, Ind.) just missed an NCAA berth, as he placed 10th and the top eight finishers earned invites. Khamis posted a two-round total of 608.6 points, with 311.6 in prelims and 297.0 in the final.
On women's 3-meter, sophomore Savana Trueb (Colorado Springs, Colo.) and junior Sarah Rousseau (Melbourne, Fla.) finished 21st and 24th, respectively.
