Rousseau, Trueb Qualify for NCAAs on Final Day of Zones

LEXINGTON, Ky. – Junior Sarah Rousseau (Melbourne, Fla.) and sophomore Savana Trueb (Colorado Springs, Colo.) of the Mizzou diving team earned NCAA Championships berths Saturday on the final day of action at the NCAA Zone D Diving Championships in Lexington, Ky. Trueb claimed her second career NCAA invite, while Rousseau qualified for the first time in her Tiger career.
Trueb and Rousseau both earned bids on platform on Saturday, while Trueb can also compete on 1-meter.
Additionally, sophomore Carlo Lopez (Edmonton, Alberta, Canada) will be eligible to dive 1-meter, 3-meter and platform after qualifying on 1-meter during Saturday action.
Joining the trio at NCAAs will be freshman Takuto Endo (Tagajo, Japan), who earned a platform bid on Friday.
KEY PERFORMANCES
Trueb and Rousseau punched their NCAA tickets on platform after the pair finished sixth and ninth, respectively, at Zones on Saturday. Trueb, who was ninth after prelims, went for 281.2 points in the final to total 534.5 points overall on the day. Rousseau also moved up three spots from prelims to place ninth overall and nab the final qualifying spot. She posted a two-session total of 521.5 points, including a personal-best 279.6 in the final.
In addition to her platform bid, Trueb can also dive 1-meter at NCAAs thanks to an 11th-place finish on the board at Zones.
Lopez added a third board to his NCAA list after taking 10th on 1-meter on Saturday. He posted 304.9 points in the final after 310.35 in prelims for a two-session total of 615.25.
