Tigers set to compete against stacked SEC, Big 12 and Pac 12 foes
COLUMBIA, Mo. — Mizzou Track and Field will travel to Fayetteville, Arkansas, for the Arkansas Qualifier on Friday afternoon. It will be the Tigers' second of three guaranteed trips to Randal Tyson Indoor Track Center this season. The meet will be streamed on ESPN+ beginning at 2 p.m. CT.
The Tigers get back to action after an off week. In their last meets the team sent split squads that competed at Iowa State and Arkansas, taking home eight event wins between the two meets.
After its successful showing, Mizzou is now set to compete against a stacked slate, featuring nine squads from the SEC, Big 12 and Pac 12 conferences. Arkansas, Vanderbilt, Kansas, Kansas State, Arizona, Arizona State, UCLA, Utah and Washington State will all send squads to the Arkansas Qualifier.
The Qualifier will kick off with men's weight throw at noon CT, followed by a flurry of jump events. The track events will begin with the 60m hurdles and 60m dash preliminary races at 2 p.m. CT. The meet will close with the men's 4x400 at 6:05 p.m. CT.
Mizzou will send a number of its current NCAA qualifiers to Friday's meet, including senior Ja'Mari Ward (Cahokia, Ill.) in the long jump, sophomore Euphenie Andre (Dover Plains, N.Y.), junior Arianna Fisher (San Jose, Calif.), and sophomore Georgi Nachev (Yambol, Bulgaria) in the women's and men's triple jump, respectively.
In addition to the qualifiers, a number of event winners will make the trip. Redshirt senior Karina Liz (Aurora, Ill.) will run the women's 800m race, which she has won in each of her two meets this season. Freshman Rondajai Washington (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.) will compete in the women's 200m dash, which she won in her first collegiate appearance in the event.
